Runway

Start Runway image-to-video and text-to-image generation tasks (billable), and read task status, outputs, credit balance, tier limits and daily credit usage.

Generate product and campaign visuals and short videos from catalogue images and prompts in content flows, then collect the output URLs and track credit spend.

Validation status

Implemented · fixture tested.

Implementation is checked against provider-shaped fixtures for every action, authentication failures, rate limits, pagination and duplicate safety. Provider sandbox and authorised account validation are recorded separately when credential-backed runs are completed.

What you can map

image to video
  • Generate video from image
    Destination
    Not retried automatically
    Approval before production

Start an image-to-video task from an image URL and an optional prompt. Billable: charges credits. Poll Get task for the output.

    image_to_video.generate
organization
  • Get organisation credits and limits
    Source

Get the organisation's credit balance, tier spending cap and per-model daily limits and usage.

    organization.get
tasks
  • Get task
    Source

Get a generation task's status, progress, output URLs, failure reason and credits charged.

    tasks.get
text to image
  • Generate image from text
    Destination
    Not retried automatically
    Approval before production

Start a text-to-image task from a prompt and optional reference images. Billable: charges credits per image. Poll Get task for the output.

    text_to_image.generate
usage
  • Get credit usage
    Source

Get credits used per day and model (UTC). Defaults to the last 30 days.

Plans and access

Runway Dev (API) accounts with prepaid credits. The API is separate from Runway app subscriptions. Usage tiers set concurrency and maximum daily generations per model and rise automatically with spend. API keys belong to a developer-portal organisation.

Test environment

There is no sandbox. Every task consumes real credits; test with low-cost models and short durations.

Rate limits

No per-minute request limit; usage tiers cap concurrent generations and maximum daily generations (rolling 24 hours) per model. Tasks above the concurrency limit wait as THROTTLED. HTTP 429 means an integration limit was reached and may be retried for reads; generation is never retried automatically.

Pagination

Get task, organisation and usage return single objects; no list pagination is used.

Provider events

Runway does not document task webhooks for the API; poll Get task. Nexra event triggers are not yet available; flows run on demand or on a schedule.

Before you build a flow

  • Generate image-to-video and Generate text-to-image are billable: each started task charges credits (estimatedCost is the maximum). They are never retried automatically and Runway documents no idempotency key, so a timed-out request may still have started a task; check the developer portal before repeating it.
  • Generation is asynchronous: the operations return a task ID. Poll Get task; output URLs expire within 24 to 48 hours and the files themselves are not downloaded. Binary upload and download is an engine gap, so images must be HTTPS URLs or runway:// URIs created elsewhere; base64 data URIs are refused.
  • Model-specific fields vary. Nexra forwards model, prompt, image, ratio, duration, seed, resolution, audio, negative prompt, reference images, output count and quality only when set; Runway validates the combination per model and returns HTTP 400 for unsupported values.
  • Excluded by design: cancelling or deleting tasks, text-to-video, video-to-video, upscaling, audio and speech generation, character performance, recipes, workflows, avatars, voices, documents, uploads and realtime sessions.
  • Organisation usage is a POST query; Runway defaults the window to the last 30 days.

Developer reference

  1. Create the Runway AI credentials described above with the narrowest permissions your flows need.
  2. In Nexra, open Connect, then Connections, then New connection, choose Runway, enter its settings and credentials, and tick only the write actions you need. Connection guide
  3. Test the connection, then use its actions as flow sources and destinations. Flow guide
