Google Analytics 4
Bring your business data together in Google Analytics 4, and act on it in the apps your team already uses.
10 ways to read, 2 ways to write, each write switched on by you.
Quality checks
Built and tested with example responses.
- Ready to connect: doneEvery listed action is built in.
- Built and tested with example responses: doneEach action is built from the provider’s published API and tested against example responses, errors, rate limits and paging.
Connected, approved, proven.
The things teams do most with Google Analytics 4, an example flow with a person in the loop, and what Nexra keeps as proof.
Top actions
- Add a custom dimension
custom_dimensions.createApproval by rule - Mark an event as a key event
key_events.createApproval by rule - Run a realtime report
realtime_reports.searchRead
Example flow
- Google Analytics 4 · Run a realtime report
realtime_reports.searchDone - Google Analytics 4 · Add a custom dimension
custom_dimensions.createMaker-checker - Nexra · Record the decision and result in the evidence chainProven
Example workflow. Routine runs go through on their own. Only a change your rules flag, such as one over a limit you set, waits for the right person, who sees the exact change and the rule before it reaches Google Analytics 4.
What gets logged
- Whether it ran on its own or who approved it, and under which rule
- A fingerprint of the exact request sent to Google Analytics 4
- Google Analytics 4's reply: what it created or changed
- One entry in the evidence chain, linked to the one before
Try this in the sandbox
Run the whole flow with test data in your sandbox, then connect a Google test account before you go live.

What you can map
Reads are always available. Writes are off until you switch them on for a connection, and governed writes follow your policies.
custom dimensions2
- Add a custom dimensionDestinationProvider duplicate protectionApproval before production
Registers an event, user or item parameter as a custom dimension so it appears in reports.
- List custom dimensionsSource
Lists the property's custom dimensions and the report names to use for them.
custom metrics1
- List custom metricsSource
Lists the property's custom metrics.
daily metrics1
- Read daily KPIsSourceIncremental
One row per day with users, sessions, page views, key events and revenue (or metrics you choose). Flows read new days automatically.
data streams1
- List data streamsSource
Lists the property's web and app data streams, with web measurement IDs.
field compatibility1
- Check which fields work togetherSource
Before running a report, checks which dimensions and metrics can be combined with the ones you chose.
key events2
- Mark an event as a key eventDestinationProvider duplicate protectionApproval before production
Marks an event (for example purchase or generate_lead) as a key event, formerly called a conversion.
- List key eventsSource
Lists the events counted as key events (formerly conversions).
properties1
- List the properties you can readSource
Lists every Google Analytics account and GA4 property this connection can see, with property IDs.
realtime reports1
- Run a realtime reportSource
Reads activity from the last 30 minutes, for example active users by country.
report fields1
- List available dimensions and metricsSource
Lists the dimensions and metrics a property can report on, including its custom definitions.
reports1
- Run a reportSource
Runs a GA4 report for chosen dimensions, metrics and dates, with optional filters and sorting. One row per combination of dimension values.
Access and limits
- Authentication
- Service account key or your own Google OAuth client
- Plans and access
- Any GA4 property (standard or Analytics 360). The APIs are free within quota. The service account or Google user must be added to the property: Viewer to read, Editor to add custom dimensions and key events. The Google Analytics Data API and Admin API must be enabled in your Google Cloud project.
- Test environment
- Use a test GA4 property (or Google's demo account) for the Test stage, then connect the live property with the same service account or OAuth client.
- Rate limits
- Token-based quotas per property: 200,000 core tokens per day, 40,000 per hour and 14,000 per project per hour on standard properties, 10 concurrent requests; realtime has the same limits. Quota errors return 429 (or 403 with a rate-limit reason).
- Pagination
- Reports page by row offset (rowCount gives the total), up to 10,000 rows per page; Admin lists use pageToken with up to 200 per page; realtime reports return one page.
- Provider events
- None. Google Analytics does not send event notifications. Flows run on demand, on a schedule, or when a scheduled check finds new or changed records.
Before you build a flow
- Sending events (Measurement Protocol) is not offered: Google takes its api_secret in the request address, and Nexra never puts credentials in URLs.
- Reports are read-only and row-capped (10,000 rows per page, 9 dimensions and 10 metrics per report). Pivot, funnel, cohort and batch reports are not offered; run separate reports instead.
- GA4 keeps updating the last 24 to 48 hours; Read daily KPIs reads the previous day again on every run.
- Small numbers can be withheld by Google for privacy (thresholding); such rows say subjectToThresholding.
- Adding a custom dimension or key event uses up a property slot; Nexra looks for an existing one with the same name first, so a repeated step does not add a second.
- Intentionally excluded: archiving custom dimensions and metrics, deleting key events, data streams or properties, changing data retention or property settings, and managing user access.
Developer reference
- Create the Google credentials described above with the narrowest permissions your flows need.
- In Nexra, open Connect, then Connections, then New connection, choose Google Analytics 4, enter its settings and credentials, and tick only the write actions you need. Connection guide
- Test the connection, then use its actions as flow sources and destinations. Flow guide
